You do realize that some immigrants aren't poor Mexicans who simply can't afford togo through the process, and that many immigrants to this country are highly beneficial? No, of course not. You haven't got the slightest ****ing clue about anything that's not affecting your life right in front of your nose.

I hope you are being sarcastic.

Because if not, you are one ignorant SOB. Grab your head and pull it out of your *** for two seconds to think about what harm those "goddamn ______'s (insert your favorite slang term here)" sitting in front of Home Deopt are doing to you.

Stealing your jobs? Ha. Give me a break.

/off topic rant.

I think the two year contract is brilliant. Allow people to serve for their country without making them give up four whole years (unless, they decide to extend their contracts or whatever the army term for doing so is)

Right, like Kevin said.

Stop losses change with the inventory of Soldiers so to speak...

Basically, the more expendable you are the less likely you'll be stop-lossed. There are exceptions here and there depending on mission changes, etc. Like if the insurgents switch tactics to IEDs then EODs become a huge asset and so forth.

If you enlist as an Arabic translator then you just set yourself up for a possible long stay. Infantry and other combat MOSs always have new guys coming in for replacement. Still, it doesn't mean you can't be stopped. I was stop-lossed for a few months. Big Deal... I still out-processed during that time. I was basically the upper-crust of the Infantry world and they still had enough of people like me.

EDITED TO ADD: But that's the thing too... most MOSs that require prolonged training for specific technologies and intellects will most likely require a longer obligation than 2 years. You couldn't enlist in a job that requires a year and a half of intense book training (basic training included) and get out 4 months later with terminal leave. "Thanks for letting me attend one of the best language schools in the world, Army!" Not going to happen...

That being said, usually these jobs that involve a specific skill are in more demand and are more likely to be stop-lossed. My guess that on a statistical standpoint, the 2 year obligation actually comes with a lower risk of being stop-lossed for this reason. But still, it's still just as real like Kevin said.

Money for college...or trade school, cooking school, etc...is a big benefit.

That's how I got my BS in Mech Engineering.

BTW...the gov't needs to establish mandatory 2 yr national service NOW!
Whether it's serving in the military or a conservation Corps type unit maitaining Nat'l parks & what not, every male & female needs to serve.
