9-1-1 is a Joke in my town.
Had to call 9-1-1 last night on my way home; there was an 8'-12' sliding aluminum ladder in the #3...that's the slow lane...of EB I-80.
"All operators are busy...please stnad by.."
Three and one half minutes later, I finally got a to talk to a live person.
Good thing it was nothing too serious.....

I've gotten "This service is not available at this time" TWICE in different parts of Monterey County. Called from my cell phone the other night at my mom's place in Sunnyvale for an EMT though and got through right away to emergency dispatch, not CHP (as some people say cell phones are forwarded to).
Oh, and the second time I got "This service is not available at this time" was at the scene of an accident and everyone else there was getting it too.

yeah, I was not connected to the CHP from my cell phone. It rang once and was picked up so it didn't seem like I was directed to the CHP and then forwarded to normal emergency dispatch.

That's pretty much what you'll get, especially if you call from a cell phone. It's best to have the direct number for pd emergency and non emergency as well as CHP to try and bypass the fubared system.
