Why? They're quite sturdy, and Koni does this in many strut markets. It works really well, especially with the D-REX extenders that re-center the strut a little lower for a lowered setup.

Koni's are well worth the extra effort. Best setup short of $2k+ coilovers.

What John? Are you referring to cutting out the strut body?

Yes. I don't like the idea of doing that. I'd rather spend the money on coils than run on a hacked together system.

The Konis aren't the issue, and I've run Yellows before so I know they are great. Unfortunately, since I have a wagon, coils are probably what I am going to have to do.

I have koni's w/ RCE yellows using 09 wrx struts. Ive driven about 2000miles with the setup and I cannot say how much I love them. I was a little hesitant at first for hacking up a perectly good set of donor struts but Im sure glad I did. For daily driving I have them on the softest dampening setting and their great but on bumpy roads it tends to be a little bouncy (spring rate is a little aggressive for the street). However on my weekend mountain runs (full stiff) it feels great, much more planted and the entire car feels more confident. Here is the writeup I used:Koni Insert Install Step-by-Step (56K Warning) - NASIOC
