will there be a difference?

I am planning on getting stainless steel brake lines and better pads this summer and am curious, how much improvement can I expect? will it even be notable?

yes you will notice a big difference. the stainless steel lines increase responsivness in the brake pedal. and better pads will definatly help you stop faster

i just upgraded my rotors, pads, and lines and the difference is incredible over stock.

i also had a few friends put ss lines on there cars without changing anything else and they noticed quite a difference right away as well. that was on a 2.5rs and a sti

Don't forget to upgrade your brake fluid as well. Good brake fluid like Motul RBF 600 holds up real well, especially under hard braking.

front lines only?

to piggy-back, does anybody know whether or not it's kosher to just replace the front lines with s/s and leave the rear stock? somebody had told me a while back that if you're gonna change the lines, you should change all 4. opinions?

Why would you want to just change the front? If it's money I think one should just save up for all 4 and do them all. Nothing to base that on, I just like to have my stuff match.

Especally with the pads you will feel a vast improvement in Braking power and strength. Havn't done the lines so I couldnt tell you that one.

If you just replace the front lines, the rear rubber lines will still flex under pressure, so you will improve pedal feel slightly, but it won't be as good as if you did all four lines.
