Wheel/strut destroyed... frame damage?

So, I'm looking at an STi that got slid into a curb. This totalled the wheel, strut, sway bar and the control arm (I think it's the control arm...).

This accident also took the piece of plastic off of the fender right above the wheel but only did slight cosmetic damage to that. Once the plastic piece is replaced it's going to be perfect.

So, the control arm and sway bar have both been replaced, now the car needs a strut, wheel/tire and an alignment. Is it possible that the damage may not have affected the frame? Aren't suspension components designed to fail before the structure of the car so as to preserve it?
