Install is messy and crude with instructions all in signs, nonething writen out. Also, on the installing of the last strut, the strut nut stripped on thr koni strut rod. I did that with a 1/2 ratchet and one hand. Nowhere near the torque to tighten it down. But what chould I do? I had just cutup the stock struts to install the Koni strut inserts.
What bullsh*t! But wait there is more!
Two weeks later the wife comes home, the WRX is her daily driver, and tells me there is oil all over the rear rim. The koni strut had blown oil everywere and was dead. Now I'm stuck with these pieces of sh*t and unable to go back to the stock struts.
That is a horror story. Frankly I'm very surprised as I've been running Koni's in my cars for about 10 years now and I'm still on original sets and I'm in NYC! You may have gotten a dud. When I put the inserts in my WRX I thought the install was not bad at all. I've done several installs on WRX's since and with the right tools it's very easy. Then again I may be used to the mechanical work as I do everything on my car myself, including engine and trasmission buildups.
You know that Koni's have lifetime warrany right? Just give them a call and you'll get a new strut in no time.
And in my opnion, Koni's are the best all around choice, especially if the roads are rought where you drive and if you're planning on keeping your car for several years or more.
