you dont need coilovers, just get a set of springs and you will be fine. get some swift or RCE springs and use the rest of the money for better brake fluid and tires

I have a set of Tein springs that suck but i have that stupid rear strut knocking problem. I am going to do my brakes and fluids too with a good set of tires. I just sold my corolla so i have some extra spending money now lol

Which Tein springs do you have? The rear strut knocking problem is an easy fix, take apart the struts and re-grease them (total cost ~$10 of grease if you have tools already). Personally, i would try fixing the clunk and putting some decent springs on your sti struts like the sti pinks or the RCE Yellows/blacks which most people seem to really like. And then I would invest some of that money into other suspension mods like fender braces, strut bars, subframe lock bolts, sway bars w/endlinks, etc. For the $2000 that you would have to spend on a set of coilovers that would be drive-able on city streets you could make a much better rounded and more effective suspension setup.

If you're dead set on getting coilovers and you don't mind the downsides (unbearably rough for a DD, need to be rebuilt all the time, etc) then go to a big subaru meet and see if some people with CO's will give you a ride so you can feel it for yourself. THEN try to decide which CO's you might want or can get for a decent price.
