Question what kind of brakes

Hello,
I have a 2003 subaru wrx sedan and i have 18" wheels.. I am looking to buy brakes and i have no clue what to look for. All i have heard about are Brembo's. I would like to get a whole kit.. Do you have to get front and back? what is better slotted or drilled rotors? any advice would help me out a lot!! i don't need the top of the line! i just want to brake better since i put a VF-34 on. thanks!

umm youre best bet would be to buy nice pads and just change your brake fluid, put some stainless steel lines on, it'll feel a lot better

big brake kits you dont really need, unless youre gonna be doing some track events...hell you dont even need them there, pads and fluid are the most important part

i just bought front and rear gold brembo kits for my 05 wrx, with sales tax it came out to almost $3,000 .... big brake kits cost a lot of money

and i would suggest slotted rotors...but just but some reall nice pads and upgrade your lines and fluid, youll be a happier person and you wouldve saved a lot of money

Say 'no' to drilled rotors. Slotted are the way to go for street or track. I have DBA slotted rotors, Axxis Ultimate pads, and StopTech braided steel lines on the front only. Noticeably greater fade resistance over stock rotors and pads. I also use Motul RBF 600 synthetic brake fluid. If you have trouble bleeding all of the air out of the system, let a professional do it. I do not regularly track my car but this setup on a near stock WRX works fine. Under hard braking, the rears do so little work that I haven't upgraded anything except pads.

For track use with a VF34 or bigger, you might consider the StopTech big brake kit. That is the bbk I see most often on WRXs that see heavy track duty, at least in northern CA. I've spoken with owners who've installed and driven with this bbk and they are very satisfied with the consistent, fade-free stops. If I get a bbk, that's what is going on my car (front, only).

If you go with a bbk, make sure your 18" wheels actually clear the brake caliper. The StopTech needs a minimum 17" wheel, as do some other kits, but not all 17" wheels have the necessary clearance on the backside of the wheel. You're also going to need some fairly good tires for best braking performance.

Brembo front and rear would be sweet but, they are expensive though.
