Cool What disc brakes fit a 99 Impreza Outback Sport??

Hey Everyone,

Just picked up a 1999 Impreza Outback Sport over Memorial weekend and it is going to need some new brakes. I have been reading that it is possible to change the rear brakes from drum to disc but I am not sure about which years and models will fit my car. I found a web page which discussed all about doing the change and he suggested that any 1993-2001 Impreza or Legacy with rear disc brakes would work but will any other years and models also work? WRX maybe?

I'm just trying to source the parts online and get a good estimate for the cost so if anyone can recommend someplace that would be sweet. I've seen some rear knuckles on ebay for around $100 each -- I would just need the calipers, rotors, pads and the brake hoses and parking brake lines right?

Thanks,

Anthony

I've done the conversion. I used hubs off the 2002 or 2003 WRX. I'd assume that the 04-07's are the same.

You need a bunch of stuff. The hub, the calipers, the rotors, the pads, the brake lines. You can reuse the parking brake line from the old hub. I was hooked up by someone, so I didn't really spend that much on the parts. I think the most expensive part is the hubs. The other stuff, if used, aren't that bad. I was only looking to buy the hub from someone and he just gave me the whole assembly. Haha.

It is worth it? Yeah. If you can get all the stuff cheap, and do the work yourself, go for it. It is a project that has a lot of little details though.
