Tien Flex's too Stiff!
I just got them, and yes everyone told me they were stuff but...Ugh their stiff. Any ideas to make them softer? Anyone looking for a set? I'm willing to trade for some hp parts or other suspension.
Thanks,
Justin

what size wheels/tires are you on?? you'd be surprised on how much they make a difference. I was riding on flex's for 2 years. They were stiff but bearable. Another way to make the car ride a little less harsh is to get some softer springs from tein.

I'm on 16' stockers.... Lots of sidewall. A little less harsh with softer springs? I figured they would be a lot softer. I guess im looking to get best of both worlds...nice riding car/good handling.
Couple things to check are your damper settings and preload. First the obvious, you can adjust your damper, so if it is set stiff, soften it up. Second is preload. There should be almost no preload on the springs, so if the upper collars are putting any added pressure on the springs, it will make them stiffer. They should just be snug enough that the spring does not move around when unloaded.
If neither of these helps, you just need to switch suspension. KW coilovers use a standard progressive spring in the rear which is fairly comfortable. There are a couple other options like BC racing that may be a tiny bit better as well. Other than that, it would be going back to a spring/strut combo

CharlesJ is right. Don't forget about ride heights between the front and rear. That can make a difference. Balance the height of your car. That's what I did when I first put my coilovers on. Also, drive it awhile before you decide to sell them. Maybe they need to be broken in. Or rather, you need to be broken into them.
You can check out the reviews of the BC's charlesj wrote. According to him, they ride like butter. I've ridden in the KW Competition 3 (race coilovers) and they are far my favorite. I assume that the Variant 3's are similar. If you don't like your coilovers, sell them and get the KW's. Suspension is trial and error. I tell people to ride in similar set-ups before buying suspension. You'll either love them or hate it. That's just how the world works.
