Suspension setup for 07 STi
So I want to lower my ride for my 07 STi. I don't want to go full coilovers since I'm pretty happy/satisfied with the stiffness and ride of my car.
I was going to get a set of lowering springs (Not sure yet, as I have to look around to see what's available for a good price)
And I heard that if I don't replace the struts, my OEM struts will die a lot faster with aftermarket springs. So should I get a new set of struts? I was looking at KYB AGX struts to replace mine.
What would you guys recommend?

On my 2 previous Imprezas (WRX,STi) I ran Cobb springs on stock struts for a long time and never had strut failure. If you have the money I would say replace the struts since the factory ones will be coming out of the car anyway to install the springs. If your on a budget and since your car is pretty new as it is I would just roll on your stock struts till they wear out with the new springs intact. Even if they last you 40k more miles I would say you came out on top
I run coilovers now and love them but if your car is a daily driver, coilovers are just overkill IMHO. On my STi I ran Cobb springs, Perrin Anti Lift Kit, Cobb sways and poly urethane bushing through out the car and the car handled like a dream without sacrificing too much ride comfort while retaining a nice drop. Struts never wore out... Oh, 800th post FTW!!

Thanks, yeah, the suspension is pretty stiff and am quite happy with it, coilovers would indeed by overkill. Thanks for your input.

Swift springs... Call it a day till you pony up for the real deal. Coilovers can be had used for less then 1k. Just make sure they are a brand that can be rebuilt. Thats almost the same cost as agx's and springs.
Coilovers are not stiff or ride bad. The owners are the problem. They are just not set up right.
