Hey im new to the forums.
I just bought a 1989 Legacy DL(EJ18,FWD) and it handles like a pig on **** :P
I was wondering if suspension from the rs or gt would fit onto my car. Im a mechanic so i can do a fair bit of work myself but just finding the info is hard hopefully you guys can help me.
I hope to get a nice fairly quick n/a subie that looks good and handles nicely any tips, suggestions or previous experience would be appreciated.
Also does anyone have a service manual for my car i am willing to pay for a copy of it
One last thing lol would the RS's suspension being made to cater for a greater weight require modification at all or would new springs cater for that ?
Thanks guys hopefully hear from you soon

you should be able to put any impreza suspension on because the legacy and impreza shared the same platform til 95 and suspension from 93-01 is the interchangable so it should work

You should have no problems whatsoever using suspension for a "GC" Impreza. I'm also fairly sure the BC/BF Legacy's were heavier than later Impreza's, so if anything, the weight would only be a concern the other way around.
I just helped someone put '01 Impreza RS suspension in his '91 Legacy sedan. The only issue we ran into was that the top spring seat in the front was larger on the Impreza and we couldn't use the front springs. This shouldn't be a problem if you get the spring seats with the suspension you purchase. Alternatively, you could opt for new struts and new springs. I just got new KYB GR2's (struts) for my '93 Legacy turbo and Whiteline Control springs. I put the new struts in about two months ago and the springs will be going in this week. Needless to say, the struts made a HUGE difference. Much less body roll and a much more sure footed feel. I'll add my impressions of the springs when they're installed.
