Suggestions for a Coilover system...what and where to buy?

I am an owner of a 05 WRX, and have already done some DIY things thanx to the help of this forum. I currently want to install a coilover system, but am not sure which one to get at a reasonable price.

I want to reduce the "boat" rolling on turns and want my car to be lowered to reduce the ridiculous stock wheel gap of 4-5 fingers.

Any suggestions on which coilover kit to get? and where? THANKS!

you can get what you want without the use of coilovers. do you really need coilovers? you really need to ask yourself that question 1st.

springs and swaybars maybe the way to go depending on your over all goals.

Thumbs up

I've used both strut/spring combos and coilovers, even with the significant price difference between the two, I think coilovers are the better of the two. The upper pillowball joints that typically come with coilovers offer a significant degree of better overall handling ability. I'm running Cusco Zero-1's right now, and don't even use aftermarket sway bars and love how the car handles (even with the oversteer). You get a allot more road feedback from the car with coilovers as opposed to springs. I just recently went from coilovers to spring/strut and couldn't stand how sloppy the car felt compared to coilovers, so I run coilovers now. Just so you know, its been hard for me to find a set that are actually streetable, I've run Tein RA's (a big mistake) and now Cusco Zero-1's. I don't think I'd touch a coilover that has spring rates at 8kg or more, it just seems to harsh for me (typically, race coilovers have a 10kg front, 9kg rear combo). The Teins that I had were dampening adjustable, but it didn't seem to make a lick of difference, they were like riding on solid rods of steel. The Cusco's are nice, I'd like to get softer spring rates for them, but overall they have been comfortable (even on a trip from Sacramento to Los Angeles with my gf). The Kei Office TE coilovers have been tempting me, supposedly close to stock ride quality. My suggestion is that if you have the money to buy into a set, do it, check out on Ebay too, most quality sets are durable enough to not be so worried about buying them used (my Cusco Zero-1's are off of a used, wrecked car from Japan).
