coilover suggestions

Hey guys

Im in the market for some coilovers and wanted to know what you guys thought.

This is my budget...around 1200...obviously I would like to pay less but that is the most I'd say I'm willing to pay.

I'm to go used just because I think I can get better coilovers used than say buying some megans for around 1000 new.

They will be going on a 2002 wrx which I daily drive but also use for auto x.

Recently I was offered some zeal function b6 coilovers for 900 that have been used for 20k miles and a few track days. Spring rate is 8/6, dual adjustable, 6 way dampening, etc. Good deal?

Also been offered some spt coilovers as well but dont know a lot about these.

Do you need it? Are you auto-x'ing competitively? Will they be legal for your class? Will you notice the difference between a good shock/spring set-up compared to a coilover set-up? These are all things you have to take into consideration. From my experience, I wouldn't of installed coilovers on my car unless I was planning to auto-x competitively.

As for your used question, have you checked up how much it costs to rebuild coilovers? It can become very pricey, very quickly. The other downside with coilovers, is that the warranty is very limited. Maybe a year. KW, however, has a lifetime warranty. Koni and KYB shocks also offer lifetime warranty.

It's your call. In most cases, I try to talk people out of coilovers unless they are either competing or have plans to complete in the near future.

I wouldnt say I am doing it competitively so to speak like as in auto x'ing through SCCA and such, but, I do like the gains that coilovers can bring to a car and therefore would like to do get them.

I have been looking at kw's. I def. dont have the money for the V3s but I do for the V1s.

Are the V1s worth it?

if you are going to look into the KW, i recommend the variant 3.

people can disagree, but i say tein flex all the way!
im using custom 10kg springs for my rears, and planning on rebuilding them soon when i move to cali.

no matter what kind of suspension you have installed, i think its important to accumulate more seat time in that same suspension and learn from the feedback it gives you. but im sure everyones already heard the "tuning the driver" is the best mod deal.. but well. its true haha.
