Strut Bar Installation?

Hey guys. I just bought a front and rear set of JDM Strut Bars on eBay and I was wondering if there was anything special that had to be done to install them or if all I had to do was pretty much just bolt it on with the 4 existing bolts. My buddy told me that sometimes the back ones have a cap ontop of the shock that has to be cut to make it fit and that I didn't want to that if I didn't have to. I have no idea. Hope you guys can help and thanks for reading this.

the hardest part is going to get the back seat out and the seat belt harness(you will see what i mean) out of the way, other then that do it some place whaer it is completely flat, and do not over tighten the 12mm nut, i thnik the tork is like 12 ft lbs if you were to like do it at 14 ftlbs they snap so be careful when tightening the nuts.

I've used this for some of the work that I've done. Very nice step by step.

Cool. Thanks guys. You f'n ROCK!! 'Nother real quick question though, on the "mikeegan" link when he's doing the front strut he said he relocated the factory alarm horn to the cruise control unit. How's that happen? And is there any easier places I can put it? Thanks again guys.

I didn't have a factory alarm so I just had to install directly. Sorry, can't help on that one.

Yup. That needs to be disconnected for easier access. Takes about one minute. I just bent my bracket up a little and it went back in no problem.

Yeah. That's what it said on the "mikeegan" site, that he just bent it up and it was all good. I'm just not a very mechanical person and I would kill myself (not really) if I did anything bad to my car (I'm sure I won't though). I didn't realize it was this involved. It's cool though. You guys still f'n ROCK! Thanks for the help. Keep posting if there's anything else I need to know.

Hi there,

I am looking for JDM strut bars on ebay too. How much does the strut bars make the difference in turning?

When you install the front Strut bar, do you need to bend the a/c pipe and relocate the aux and horn?

Thanks for your input.

I got the front and rear for $80. The front bar will kinda push the A/C pipe back a little but you shouldn't have to bend it too much. It took a little convincing to get it in but it went in eventually. http://mikeegan.stormpages.com/WRX.html - That'll tell ya all about it.
