STi front brakes (Is the squeaking noise normal?)
Sti front brakes????
My 05' Sti has 35,000 miles on it. The fronts are now squeking. I know other cars have metal scribes on the pads to indicate when the pad life is nearing its end. Do the stock pads on the Sti have that too? I had the dealership look at it twice and they said the noise is normal. Its just that my warranty is up in 1,000 miles and I want to have it addressed if it needs to be. Thanks.
any help out there?
Its probably just me but everytime I post a thread with a question it seems there are no responses. I try searching for answers myself fisrt and look thru the forums. I dont have alot of time on my hands to research all day. I thought this forum would be helpful when people had questions and needed answers. But maybe no-one has gone thru hear yet who even knows the answer. Please help.
Well.. your warranty does not cover brake pads after 12,500 miles since they are considered wearable parts. Go grab your flash light and look at your brakes pads. You don't have to have a jack since you cann see them thorugh the bbs's. If they are low, change'em. These are perhaps the easiest pads in th world to change. If I have the car in the air already, it takes me about 5-10 minutes per side on the front or rear. Real easy! And yes..I do believe they do have wear indicators on them, not positive though since I bought mine with ebc greens on it.

Yeah, they have feelers for break wear. Is the noise only when braking or all the time? You can bend the clips or snip them off. Sounds like it's time for new pads.
