Question Slotted rotors.... directional?

I recently bought a set of Delphi/Lockheed slotted rotors to replace my stock fronts. It was recommended by the tuning shop clerk that they be installed with the outermost ends of the channels pointing in the direction of the rotation of the wheel (like this /// --->), but he never supported his recommendation with any specific reasons. I asked around before installing them and all I got were reasons like "It will save wear on your brake pads" or "It will channel the brake dust toward the center of your wheel, making the wheels appear clean longer", but nothing that affected performance. I looked around on brake company websites, and have noticed that the channels face different directions for different companies' installations. If anybody has any truth on which way the rotor channels should face, please pass it on. Thanks!

Any decent aftermarket rotor will have directional vanes between the rotor surfaces for cooling purposes. It's these vanes that must be facing the correct direction in order for the cooling to work.

This should help explain: http://www.stoptech.com/faq/data/faq16.html

Yeah, that and there should probably be some sort of stamp or label on the rotor itself to tell you which side is which.

My stoptechs didn't have one.

Good thing they came with excellent directions.

No labels, but with the cooling vane direction in mind, thats what I based the installation on. I always go to the Stoptech website. I was surprised I didnt see that earlier! Thanks!
