single stage booster install
I was considering buying a new singles stage booster and master cylinder off of yahoo japan for about $90 but I wanted to ask around to see who had installed one on their RS. Is it really that noticeable of a difference with one installed? I've already got the 4 piston brakes from a P1 and the SS brake lines so would I really notice better feel to the brakes instead of the numb stock setup?

i've heard if you already have the 4pots on... you won't need the single stage booster since it won't feel right.. single stage is more for the stock 2pot fronts to make it feel less "mushy"

Okay here is the deal with the brake booster and Subaru 4pots and 2pots. I have the 4pot fron setup on my RS along with the rear 2pots. Yes you have heard it right and if you want to see them check out www.i-speedusa.com and it is the white car on their homepage. As far as the stock brake booster goes. It works fine with the 4pots alone. Since you are getting SS lines then you are pretty much set. Just make sure that when you bleed the brakes, you get all the air out.
But having the front 4pots and rear 2pots makes for a great setup but it is really expensive to get the rears on. And you do not want to know how much it will cost to get them on and off. The kit alone is pretty expensive. This setup works great with theh stock booster.

don't forget its a PITA to swap the boosters from what i heard. i've read that people have to curse a couple times... scratch and bruised before the stock booster can come out... also when it goes it

Yeah, the brake booster is something that I would not want to remove even though it would make the pedal feel much firmer. I am sure that there are some people out there that can do the swap really quick from experience.

I had the single stage brake booster on my RS with the Subaru 4-Pots in the front and the Legacy Turbo rear on-pots. The install WAS a *****, but the benefit was worth it. The pedal feel was MUCH better. Much more linear. I'd recommend it if you're comfortable working on your car, and you can get the whole set-up for $90.

I also can say that installation is a pain in the ****. I've done it twice and would never do it again. Taking it out is a pain, putting it in is a pain. Look for about 5-8 hours to do it, and like everyone else said, lots of cuts on your hand/arms. 90 dollars is a great price though, good luck.

I am not too far behind you in aquiring a JDM setup on the New Age. Just bought some front Brembo golds...I am supposed to pick them up today!
