Should suspension mods come BEFORE first track day? (was: Suspension Question)
In terms of belts....the CG-lock is a minimum IMO.
After a season or so using it then moving to some safety harnesses will really help you justify the cost of the harness/harness bar.
I think you will be suprised on how well a stock suspension WRX with upgrades tires/brakes can move around the track. The tires and brakes will help extend your useable tracktime....you should get as much time as you can as you are paying for it, right?
Driving is quite a lot of personal style and finding what works for you and what does not work as well.....but much of it is physics. Talk to some of the guys at the trackday most are very helpful. Also if they offer instructors to ride along with you DO IT!!!! That is free instruction at its finest.
Otherwise some things i would suggest......(I'm no expert though
okey: )
~Always be "smooth".
~Get comfurtable watching for flags and passing/being passed.
~Don't race into the corners....your not FWD and you are heavier.
~Turn in later than you feel you should (experiment with this).
~Mid-turn get on the gas and hold it until you finish the exit....avoiding rear lift.
~Once your tires grease or you notice brake fade.....slow down, it is OK
~oh....have fun......and let us know how it went
