I heard they made a huge difference. I haven't gotten them myself, because they aren't legal for the auto-x class I am running in.

I didn't notice much of a difference, but then again I have aftermarket coilovers, sways, endlinks, lateral links, and trailing arms.

They do indeed go into the two threaded holes. Hand thread them in to avoid cross-threading and try to tighten with a ratchet instead of an air gun. Tighten a little bit on each side and keep repeating.

Loosening the four bolts helps with aligning the lock bolts.

Don't count on it. Without a bit of float from loosening those bolts, you stand a much greater chance of cross threading the lock bolts. Once that happens, you're done. Just follow the precautions - they'll cost you some time, but save you $ and heartache.

I have heard from several sources that the subframe locks don't tend to make much of a difference at all on STi's.

these are the ****, almost everyone at our FFBN meet has picked these up. They're amazing for people without heavily modded suspension and great for the price. You can get them for $30 shipped from Rallitek.com and they take like 20min to install

Get some PB Spray on there first.

I'm surprised you're having issues with only 2,000 on the clock. It must be that same damn Subaru gorilla that installs the oil filters and lugnuts at the factory.
