Rear ASB
Hello all.
I'm thinking of upgrading the rear ASB on my 93 L sedan. I'm having trouble finding info on these. Am I correct in thinking my car's stock ASB is a 13 mm? I'm thinking of going to an 18 mm since people on here say it will improve the handling without making the car too unforgiving. I read on here something about going to the salvage yard and finding one. What do I get one off of? Which ones will fit? Can I find one out from under a newer WRX? Do they come with an 18 mm stock?
Any info appreciated, thanx,
J

18mm from a USDM wrx will not fit but you can buy a new one from http://www.subaruparts.com/catalog/?section=160
if you get the 20mm you get oversteer when you brake going into turn unless you throtle brake this is why the first gen wrx had 18mm and not 20mm

You can use any FHI sway bar you want, they are all the same. US WRXs have a 17mm or 20mm sway bar. "Throttle braking" (you mean heel and toeing?) won't change the handling characteristics of your car. Weight transfer happens based on the actual amount of acceleration the car is experiencing. Anyways, a 20mm is just about perfect on any Impreza when you add endlinks. Anything above 17 though will be a big improvement over stock.

forgot that the front is the one that doesnt fit
i read it someplace and throttle braking means engine brake or just down shifting
but i did not think that endlinks would make that much a difference

Yeah that is what I've been hearing. Get the 18mm and I'll be good. I can get that new one off of the site Kay gave me and, Ban, yer saying get the endlinks too? I have heard I can just go to a salvage yard and pick up the mounting hardware off of an AWD L or LS or 2.5 RS for the sway bar. I found a set of front links that say they tighten up the front end too. I need to research those more but this is sounding like a good affordable combination - the rear swaybar and endlinks and the front links.
Any reason why this shouldn't work?
Thanx again,
J
