Real quick spring help
ok, so i am attempting to lower my '05 STI on tein s-tech's and....
theres a little problem
i have the strut assembly off, and the spring compressors on.
when i turn the strut nut at the top of the assembly, the whole thing turns.
i take it i need to somehow hold the strut in place and turn that nut.
how do i do this???
thanks in advance.

If i rember right there is a 14mm nut holding the hat on. In the center of that is the threaded stem if you look in the center of that there is a hex key. I can't remember what size. What I did was; take a set of vise grips and clamp onto a 14mm socket. put the socket on the nut and then put the hex key through thehole in the socket to loosen it. Use some liquid wrench on the nut first. You don't want to strip the hex key. Give that a try.

Air gun works best, but if you don't have one try holding the hold-n-drive feature at the end of the rod tennon. There is another option as well, you can use a band clamp on the damper rod. Make sure to get one that does not allow the handle to contact the rod, just the band. I have one that has a band made of rubber like an engine accessory drive belt.
