I am considering moving to a different off-set in order to accomidate some Volks. If I keep it close to tyhe stock off-set but just slightly off what kind of problems will I notice in handling?

It depends on the width of the wheel. When you add width the offset needs to drop.

What size wheels do you plan on purchasing?

A 40 or 52mm offest has been recxomended. While I know I will have to change my alignment5 what I am curious about is wether I will encounter LASTING alignment dificulties such as the car pulling to one side or somthing.
Thanks

You wont have any of those issues when you change offset but you might have rubbing issues. The recommendation you got sounds a little odd. What is the width of the wheel you are looking at.

Sometimes a vendor will recommend offsets that won't work just to make a sale.

Actualy I have chosen an off-set I am positive will fit. I just wondered if my handeling would be effected. I also just installed a set of camber plates to give me a better range of alignment. I appreciate your responses and you have been very helpfull. Thank you for your time and knowledge.

No problem.

Depending on your driving habits, ride height, offset and tire width you may not need to mess with the oe settings. If your car is lowered and you want to run something over a 225 with an offset that is too low you may need to add a lot of negative camber to the rear and without a set of camber plates or bolts the rear is not adjustable. I'm guessing you bought the camber plates for the front.

BTW, what width and offset did you go with and what springs are you running? Just curious.

Yes, I just did The front camber plates. The offset I have chosen is 43 (not 40 or 52) on a 17x7.5 rim. I am using Prodrive springs. I would like to go lower but the Prodrive springs seem to be the best choice for ride/handeling. Maybe I will go lower if I step up to coil overs one day.

Good luck with that. If you plan on pushing the car you will most likely have problems with the rears rubbing the fenders. A lot of negative camber and fender rolling might do the trick but I don't know for sure.

I'm running 225 s03's with a 48mm offset and my sedan is around the same ride height (stiffer springs) and the rears rub when I push the car hard.

Is your car a sedan or wagon? If you plan on running 225's is it too late to request a 7.5" wheel with a 48-50mm offset.

BTW, I've never ran a wheel like you're buying so I can't say that I'm 100% sure you will have problems but since your wheels will stick out more than mine I think you will.

Good luck
Joe
