Check the alignment
That is more likely to have gone out before the power steering if it was only 5 mph. Even a little off makes a difference. I did the same thing last year and it was harder to turn in one direction compared to the other. After alignment it was fine. You might also want to check the wheel to make sure it wasn't bent.

How far off was your alignment? That could tell you a lot. Assuming your wheel was OK. Did you check the tire pressure of the tire that hit the curb. You might have a leak in that one tire that would make it harder to turn. Did you have your steering wheel at full lock when you hit the curb? If there was no play to help absorb the impact it could be the power steering. If I now I am going to hit something hard with my wheels I try to straighten them out before impact. Easier said then done though. Have you checked the level of your power steering fluid? Might be time to take it to the dealer. Sorry.
