People W/ Prodrive Springs On '04+
hey everyone, i know that prodrive springs work well with the stock struts, and that hte springs dont lower the car down to atleast 2 inches. will i still be needing a front n rear sway bars n strut braces??
that's your preference. sway bars and strut braces aren't needed when you install springs. adding those things will make your car corner better due to reduced body roll and strut tower flex. however, your car will also be less forgiving and communicative during the turn.
oh yeah, also, will there be any effect if i only have a front strut bar n not in the rear?? also, is it recommended that i get the front n rear? is this the same affects for sway bars(having the front only n not the rear: should i get both n' not just one) thenx a bunch guys! sorry for the newbie question, i jus want a decent good suspension set up.
if you had to pick one set up, is it better to have/buy sway bars instead of strut bars? or the otehr way around.

Ok, here are some pointers I have picked up(always subjective opinions):
-Strut bars don't do much unless you already have stiff suspension
-no reason at all why you can't do only the front strut bar
-if I was ever to get a strut bar it would probably be the rear first (front is so close to firewall it doesn't seem like it would make much of a difference)
-doing both sway bars at the same time rocks!! if I was doing one, I'd do the rear first (dial out some understeer)
-I already chose between strut bars and sway bars. I'm pretty sure you'll notice the effect of sway bars more so than that of strut bars, can't say for sure as I don't have strut bars
So if I was in your position and I sort of am, except I picked up an STi v8 spec-c set of takeoffs instead of prodrives. (don't ask how they are cause they are in a box on their way to me still). If you have the money I'd go with front and rear swaybars with endlinks. If you're limited on funds, a rear swaybar should be sufficient(endlinks are good too though). My setup will soon be the STi takeoffs + helix front and rear swaybars with endlinks. I figure that allow me to manoevre pretty sweetly on the curves. At some point I may pick up a rear strut bar, but very little chance of me getting a front one.
Anyways good luck man. It always comes down to money. And no I haven't heard of anyone needing camber kits with lowering springs, unless you drive a wagon.
Edit: On a sedan, you don't need camber bolts, but camber is always fun to have.

thenx a bunch! that was helpful information. thenx for tha luck n g luck with ure new springs! oh yeah, would it make a difference if i werent u to use endlinks? what are the affects. what role do endlinks play??

The stock endlinks have a bit of play in them before they do what they need to do. The rears more so than the front's. Having aftermarket (read hard) endlinks will allow the anti-roll bar to "activate" sooner than with the stock endlinks. The only real way to know how much they actually affect things would be to use the stockers for a while then switch to aftermarket endlinks.
I didn't get aftermarket front endlinks yet as they stock ones, even if they look kinda pitiful, are basically little metal bars and don't look like they have as much play was the rear ones would. That being said, I couldn't bend the rear endlinks with my bare hands or anything either.

I have an 05 wrx with prodrive springs. everything is else suspension-wise stock. under hard cornering i do have a bit of body roll, but it is much better than stock. i believe it is about a 20~25mm drop. i can fit about 2 fingers from the fender to the tire. you won't need any camber kit for the rear..i would wait at least a week for the suspension to settle before alignment. i am planning to put on a rear sway + rear endlinks pretty soon, i would do both at once. hope this helps
I got an 05 on Prodrive springs. Ride height is perfect. Any lower and you end up beating the car up more. While there is some sway, I don't have any aftermarket sway/ strut bars, and it is at least 100% better than stock as far handling is concerned. I have stock tires (RE-92s) and now the car's cornering exceeds their grip. Just got an alignment and only the front needed to be adjusted. I am 100% satisfied w/ the Prodrive springs.
