Newbie question--Swaybars?
Hey all had a quick question on swaybars..
Anyone know anything about the Hotchkis setup? I was looking at the competition sway bar kit to go along with a Tein Flex set-up (Depending on whether or not a deal goes through.) I don't know a whole lot about swaybars but these appear thicker than the Perrin (25.4 vs. 22) the rear is adjustable and the package I'm looking at comes with endlinks and mounts already. (I was looking at importimageonline.com)
Anyone have any experience with this setup that can give me a ye or neh?
Thanks

Pretty sure those are Hollow. That's why they're thicker.
I'd stay away from perrin.
For sway bars you're pretty safe going with whiteline or cusco.
Pretty sure Cobb and Hotch are both hollow bars.

with hollow sway bars you can run a higher rate sway bar without having the weight disadvantage. so, if anything it is better to have hollow bar because of the weight. what do you want to do with you car? street? Auto cross? Road Race/Open track events? What suspension do you have now?

Right now just running stock. I plan on using it for the occasional "spirited" driving, and maybe a track day or two. I was going to eventually pair this up with a spring and shock or coil over setup (probably springs)
Personally, I am an advocate for same size front and rear due the the natural understeer nature of the car. This helps to balance it a bit. We have used whiteline and cusco with good results.
Hollow is fine and great for weight savings, but a 25mm hollow is not the same as a 25mm solid. They are however substantial lighter than ones even significantly smaller than them.
I have Cobb bars on my 07 wrx and I love them-the handling improvement was really larger than I thought possible. I've heard Cobb bars are rebranded Hotchkiss but that may be BS.

Why stay away from perrin...is there something wrong with them?

Just personal preference I suppose. I and cars I've had direct experience with have had issues with quite a few different perrin parts not fitting or functioning correctly. It's why they have thinks like version two injectors and what not. Sorry that I prefer to go with tride and true companies that treat their customers well. Just personal preference that's all.
Me personally...I like 24 front. 24 adjustable in the rear.

Will an alignment need to be re-done after a swaybar upgrade? I just had my alignment done to counter the understeer/push our WRX's are naturally setup out of the factory with.
Any opinions on whiteline 20mm front/22-26mm adj. rear swaybar setup?

swaybars don't change your alignment. they will effect the way your car handles. you might need to change your suspension setup(compression/rebound/spring rate) to account for the added roll stiffness. sway bars will not make you car pull to one side or make the steering wheel off center. unless you do something wrong while installing them.

If you changed your alignment to dial out understeer on the set up it may not be the best alignment with the sways.
But putting the sway bars won't alter your alignment.
