the new wrx red brakes (4-pots)
I am just trying to see if any one that has these brakes has had any problems with them I would like the brembos but I want to keep it a sleeper and the brembos scream high performance. I have an '02 wrx with ssr comation's and also dont want to lose the rims. I am running upgraded rotors and pads ( the old school aem drilled and slotted) and steel lines. Any way, if I drive hard on back roads I seem to heat them up way to fast and the petal just turns to mush in about 10 minutes.
Can I get away with running the reds or do I need to find some sti's (brakes and rims). Any help would be great. and it is for about 400 crank hp.

The red calipers found on the front of the '06 and later WRX are Subaru 4-pots. They are pretty much the same caliper that has been sold over-the-counter in the U.S. or as original equipment on WRXs in some foreign markets. The 4-pot is a good step up from the '02 WRX caliper but is not as rigid as the OEM STi Brembo caliper or aftermarket brakes like StopTech big brake caliper. I have no idea what SSR Comation wheels are but if they are 17" diameter rims, the 4-pots should fit easily behind them.
When you upgraded to steel brake lines and re-bled the lines, did you replace all of the brake fluid with high-performance fluid like Motul RBF 600? Did you correctly bleed the brake cylinders to get all residual air out of the system? If these things weren't done, you may continue to have problems if you drive your vehicle hard.
What pads are you currently using?
Most of the WRX owners I know who've gone the route of power and suspension upgrades spent the $1600 for the StopTech big brake kit and good sticky tires to enable the brakes to haul down their cars at the track (road course). This brake caliper will fit behind some 17" wheels, but not all of them.
