Need Help With Springs

I purchased my SPT springs while ago and never got around to putting them in... Now this is where I need some help, I looked at the instruction manual and it said that i need to purchase new "Self-locking Nuts" for the top of the strut mount...or something to that affect. I need to know if I need to get new ones or if I can use the old ones. And I haven't even undone anything in the car so I am pretty new at this. Thank You!

Another question too,
If I do use the SPT springs with my stock strut I hear that it will only last 1/2 the ammount of time. So, would it be good to pick up a new strut? If so what type would be the best, reminded that I have the Springs already
.
Thanks

u can re-use the stock locknut (i did.. been 20k miles.. no prob).. be careful takin the stock hat off tho.. use a good set of spring clamps.. too many scary stories about make-shift spring clamps breaking and springs flying away =T
i've had mrt springs on my 02 wrx with stock struts for bout 1.5 yrs now.. was a little bumpy at first. .but riding fine right now.. i suppose i'll get agx's soon which should smooth it out a bit.. if you have the cash, splurge and get the agx's.. do a search.. i think they can be had for around 400 a set.. =)

if your worried about the lock nuts being used then just put red loctite on the threads and you should have no problems

if you have a first gen impreza
and yes if you do the springs do the shocks too because you have to take them off anyway and why do a dangerous job of changing spring twice and if you dont have the cash for them just wait til you can because you will save alot a cussing and swearing, beating and pounding doing this just once
hope this info helps you
