Need help, Brembo front kit, rusted rotors...

Alright, So I found a really good deal on JDM STi Ver. 8 take off Brembos. So I went ahead and got them, but never received pictures of the rotors. So they arrive here today, I pull everything out of the box with a huge smile on my faces...the calipers are gorgeous (repainted in Porsche Red) but the rotors are rusted to ****. So whats the deal....are they even usable? I dont know much about brakes and rotors. So would I be better of just buying new rotors? Also, I was told that everything would be included, all pins, clips, and everything, including the pads, and I didnt get any of them, so now I need to find a place to get all those little odds and ends. Please help me out, if you know a place, OTHER than a dealership cuz I dont want to go that route. Also, all you STi guys who have upgraded ur pads in your Brembos, which are u using and how do you like em? I was thinkin about the Project Mu B Force pads. Anyway, here are some pics.

**EDIT** Just thought I would post a pic after the rotors had been delt with....I was pleasantly suprised. Many thanks to LIC Motorsports for such a nice job on cleaning up my rotors. Thanks again Noah and Adam.

Those rotors actually dont look that bad.....They will definitely need to be resurfaced on both sides.....but they look like they are in good shape....

heres the deal with rotors on any brake system......Ever notice how your rotors get slightly rusty after you are done washing your car? The reason this happens is that rotors are Raw unprotected metal....and metal in this form is very susceptable to the elements like rain or any significant moisture for that matter....so, that said, the rust like that is a normal occurance for any brake rotor......esp. if its left outside (hence the amount of rust on YOUR rotors).....SOOO to remedy this, just take your rotors to a dependable brake shop, and have them resurfaced.....they will be good as new!

Congrats on your new brakes....you are gonna LOVE them! :2thumbsup:

Edit: I have stoptechs.....so I dont know where you'll find the rest of the stuff...but why dont you just contact the seller and ask for the parts? Thats what I'd do.....or call Brembo Directly. I dealt direct w/stoptech for my brakes and they even answered questions for me as I ran into problems while installing the system.

Thanks a bunch man. Thats what i was planning on doing, taking them down to a machine shop and having them turned. I figured they were just left outside, but I was just alarmed to see how much rust there was, and got a little concerned as i just spent a lot of money on these parts. And I have asked the seller, the pads were supposed to be included with the sale, and i had mentioned the pins and clips before i sent my payment but apparently just got shrugged off, which is bullsh!t and bad business, but oh well. So ill just have to wait and see what the reply says.

And I cant wait to get them on!! Im now just waiting on my JDM Ver. 7 rims to arrive...hehe

Thanks again, greatly appreciated.

Ted,

For sure. Once I get a little further along, Im gonna be starting a thread in the ongoing projects section as well as the conversion section...Adam of LIC is gonna help me out and wire and swap in my JDM Ver. 7 STi EJ207 and 6 speed...unless someone buys the 6 speed before. So yeah, once the Ver. 7 rims get here, Im throwing the brakes on and the wheels, taking pics, and then moving on to the drivetrain...brakes first tho...my stock RS calipers wont handle that kind of power. Thanks again for your help. Take care.

Posted some pics of the rotors after getting them back from LIC who was kind enough to have them resurfaced and then even painted the hats for me. Thanks again to Adam and Noah. Awsome job, as usual.

Patrick

PS. Now just waiting on the Ver. 7 STi rims/tires to get here and then Ill get pics up of the whole front brake kit installed.

Im not exactly sure how it was done as I bought them this way. I would imagine its either a sticker or just stensled(sp) on. Not too hard I wouldnt think.

probably is a high temperature white paint in which with a template you paint the Brembo logo.

Yeah thats what it looks like, the job was well done, minus the fact that someone left a puddle of brake fluid sitting on the back of the caliper which ate through the paint....but thats on the back of the caliper right where the line comes in so once I seal it off, it wont be a problem.
