Mushy Wagon
Maybe I'm too picky; but my '02 WRX wagon feels top heavy and floaty while negotiating smooth corners at fairly brisk speeds.
It's ok on choppy short radius turns but any corner that causes the body to lean coupled with a mid-corner dip and the wagon wallows too much. All I've done so far is put a sedan rear swaybar and mounted up some Dunlop 5000's on the stock rims since I use the wagon to haul me up the mountains for snowboarding. Any suggestions as to how I can set up the wagon for better smooth corner handling (summer conditions) and improve transient response? Thanks. Vic

Assuming your wagon is bone stock...other than the sedan bar...my suggestion would be to start with some 17" wheels and lower profile tires. I doubt you'll never get the kind of cornering ability you seek with high profile rubber. I'd also suggest you add a set of solid end links to your current setup to reduce the suspension compliance. A good set of lowering springs would help lower the CG point, which would benefit your wagon's cornering ability.
Also, see if you can find someone to alter your factory alignmenet settings a tad. My dealer offers what they call a "performance alignment"...which I plan to do ASAP. So far, I have a sedan sway bar, Kartboy end links, and a whiteline strut brace on the rear of my wagon. The understeer is gone, but the front end is a bit twitchy. I've been told the performance alignment will cure the twitchiness. I'm hoping it does...
If you've got the cash, get yourself a set of coilovers...

Mine is the same. It can best be fixed with adjustable struts and slightly stiffer springs. I'm looking to get prodrive springs and Konis soon.
I've gone through this with other cars, and I've found that struts take out 90% of the "bob and mush"...

A rear strut bar will help out alot due to the wagon having more weight on the backside...you know that huge open area in the hatch
Depending on cash flow you should look into the Tein Wagon Coilovers, I know they are right around 1k.
