KYB AGX (and STi top hat) question
Got some Prodrive Springs on the way for my '04 wagon.
Now, I'm trying to decide if I should just wear out the stock struts with the springs, or purchase some AGX's.
I found some new KYB AGX's for sale on Ebay-the ad states they're for the wagon.
So, the question is, is it worth spending the extra $ for the AGX's for occasional autocrossing and a track day or two? Other than that, I just use it for the occaisonal daily commute and cruise the twisties on the weekend. OF course, I'd like to keep the ride as comfortably close to stock as possible.
And, if I purchase the AGX's, do I need anything else such as strut tops, etc.? I have posted the strut top question to the vendor, but thought you guys could enlighen me a little sooner. Thanks.

agx's will help control the higher rate springs which will give you a somewhat stiffer ride but you won't get the cut springs bouncy bobble after bumps and dips.
it will be more controlled and perform much better.
i would recommend upgrading the struts at the same time if you have the money.
strut tops are not required but the will add to the responsivness when cornering, which will come into play if you're into autoX. daily stuff they prolly will make a noticable difference.
i've had various cars over the years w/ multiple sus setups on most and i have always been more pleased w/ the overall performance of the setups when i ran a better strut/shock combo when lowering...
OE struts/shocks just aren't designed to handle the duties.

Thanks, I'll get the struts for a combo spring/strut setup then.
What kind of strut tops should I be looking at? Any recommendations on where to find them? And, are the tops for both front and rear?
Sorry for all of the questions, but I want to do it right.
lol Scott- you guys will get the bizness of putting them on right for me.

I'm using the Group-N tophats with my AGX's + SPT springs. Great stuff, a little expensive but I thought it was worth it. I actually drove around for a week testing the suspension without the tophats and I wasnt impressed... But WITH the tophats, OMG i'm so happy now with how the car handles

Hey, I'm looking at AGX's to replace the RS struts I have on my L now, sounds like top hats are a must, kostamojen, you have any parts you need to get rid of, you always have good stuff?!

The ride feels fine. The tophats dont give as much extra NVH as you would think, because what they seem to do is force the struts/springs to do their job properly. That allows you to work more with the strut settings to get the ride how you want it... If you run the struts at lower settings, its quite a smooth ride.
