Jolt and kickback during Turn-ins and Heavy loaded corners.
Hi,
Since the car was new less than a year ago I have at times experienced Kickback and Jolts during Turn-ins and long heavly loaded corners, especially if there is a small bump in the road. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this natural? I have no modifications to my 06 STi. Do any modifications exist that would fix or smooth the kickback? I know trucks have steering dampers, but does my STi? The car has not been in an accident, unless it was dealer related and I don't know about it.
Thank you!

In my limited STI driving experience, I believe I may have felt what you are experiencing. I chalked it up to having that helical front diff or whatever it has. Not sure if this is what you're talking about, or if it's something else. The car definitely felt weird and choppy on throttle while loaded up. Oh also are you in Auto all the time? You could try setting it to the 35/65 and see if that changes things, but I'm not sure if it's ok to drive in that mode all the time.
This has been discussed quite a bit elsewhere and seems to be specific to the 06 and maybe 07 STI. There is also generally a small clunk sound associated with it. It only seems to affect stock suspension cars. With upgrade suspension and sways it went away completely. An ALK is also recommended.
I know most people say the steering rack bushings are not necessary on this year, but I still say it helps, and after I installed these, the problem was less noticeable. It was then even better after realigning the car with some decent negative camber.
