Front Sway Bar and Coilover Question

Hi guys, I just got stance coilovers for my 05 sti, and dropped the car off at the mechanic and when I got it back today, I found out that my front sway bar snapped... It was an aftermarket sway bar, according to the mechanic, and I couldn't figure out which brand. All I know is its a red sway bar, if that helps.

On top of that whenever I do slow turns in 1st gear or turn the wheel while in neutral, I hear as if the springs or something makes a "thung" or popping sound... The mechanic said its because of the missing sway bar and so the tires are unbalanced and so it makes that noise.

So my question is, what kind of sway bar I should get, oem or aftermarket? And is the noise really because of the missing sway bar or is it because of an installation error on his part??

What you need to do is not drive the car until you have a REAL mechanic look at it, because the other one has no idea what he is doing and probably damaged your car on the lift. A swaybar is not an easy thing to break IMO, so something definitely went wrong. I can't imagine how you are driving it without a front sway bar; the car should have become completely tail happy.
