Is it ok to take off the dust shields on the front brakes? when i upgraded to wrx size rotors I took them off since they were too small. Is it ok to leave them off? I don't encounter a lot of dust, rocks, & debris in my usual travel. (except for fallen leaves and prob rain soon).

You might want to put them back on and just modify them (bend the outside lip of them) to fit with the STI sized rotors. If you get a small pebble wedged into the caliper it will make a hell of a noise as well as make a nice unintended groove in your rotor. Its not the large rocks on offroad runs that you have to be careful of. Its the small everyday road garbage.

For Street driving, I would recommend that you get the WRX dust shields. They are larger and will bolt right on. They are not that expensive either.

I cannot remember, but I will be sure to ask tomorrow for ya. Btw, let me know when you have some free time so we can install the brake lines for your car.
