Disconnect Front Swaybar - WRX Sedan
I've heard from several autocrossers who race WRX's that disconnecting the front Swaybar, by either removing the links and tying the bar up, or removing the entire thing, will give much more aggressive steering, but at the cost of increased bodyroll. The way it was explained to me is that it's similar to increasing the diameter of the rear swaybar, but free. Has anyone tried this? Is it easy to do? Is handling and ride any better, worse, or just plain crappy?
Thanx in advance.

i sure wouldn't run an autocross event with the bar hanging loose, i'd pull the whole damn thing off. that said, i don't even know if it'd be legal to do so. typically, removing or disconnecting a swaybar will only affect the vehicle's body roll, not the ride quality (which is largely determined by spring weight, compression/rebound damping, and sidewall flex).
you might as well try it, it's not like it costs anything. the worst thing you'd waste would be twenty minutes of your time taking it off and putting it back on.

You can change the front sway bar and links and mounts, even in D stock, but I wouldn't do it. Just get a bigger rear, it's not that expensive. Wouldn't hurt anything to try though.
