CV boot

Hey,
So I did some reading and from what I read it seems that my front ball joint is going bad. I did a visual inspection and I can't see anything out of the ordinary. I just get a clanking under some load from a stop and when going over bumps, which is what makes me think that its going bad. What I want to know is can it be bad without it looking bad or will it start leaking or have a sign that something is wrong with it? Thanks
Charlie

Hmmm...is the CV rubber boot ripped or leaking grease? The CV boot will make a rattling "click, click, click" noise when damaged, similiar to a baseball card in a bike spoke, getting louder and faster as you increase speed....which makes me think its not the CV boot.

Any suspension mods? Strut?...endlink...?...clunks are hard to diagnose over the internet.

Ya, suspension stuff seems to be a pain. I'm pretty sure its not the boot them cause they both look fine, nothing leaking. Imma get it up in the air this weekend and start rattling around on stuff and see if I can pinpoint anything, thanks for the help. ^^
