I've noticed a "rusty bedspring" sound on my 2002 WRX in the right front corner when I am braking or clutch-braking to a stop. I've got the OEM suspension, and less than 18k miles -- is this a normal sound, or should I be rushing to the dealer for a suspension lube and bushings? Could there be another source of the sound, such as engine mounts?

 

I started to notice the squeek (very faint) after I put on the front strut brace. This was only when I would go over speedbumbs and things like that. I heard somewhere on here that it wasn't a big deal unless you can't stand the noise.

 

I'm going to bump this, because it is driving me nuts. I have not touched the suspension; it is all totally stock. What would be causing it to make noise in so young of a car?

 

If everything is stock, take it to the dealer and explain the problem. They should be willing to help find the cause as a warranty repair.
