Which coilovers?

Hey all.

I was wondering what you guys though about coilovers? I'll need to change out the stock shocks and springs in the near future, and I was throwing around the idea of getting KYB AGX's and springs. I figure that I should also explore the option for entry level coilovers. I figured that spending $600/$700ish for stock springs and shocks, I could also go entry-level coilovers for a little more.

I was checking out the latest issue of SubieSport and I saw that the Megan Street Coilovers were $1050 retail or something. What have you guys experienced with those? What are some of my other options?

TIA.

Yeah. I am looking for entry-level for GC's, which make it a little more difficult. I think BC has a GC application.

I found Megan Coilovers from ImportImage for $901.25 or something. I also froogled it and found people selling for $850ish.

The BC's that you mentioned, ImportImage is doing a promotion on those for $1000, but those are for the WRX/STi.

Yeah... we'll have to see. I was going to do brakes first, then coilovers. But you know... money is money.

What were you planning for the brakes?

The AGX/spring combo is a nice way to go for performance and a tab bit lower stance. Something like some Prodrive or Swift springs. I have the AGX/S-tech set-up and before that I had stock struts/eibach. If I could go back in time, I'd go for the AGX/ Prodrive setup because it has an even drop and are made to perform. I like the drop on the s-tech but they handle for beans.

Yeah. I was actually looking at something like that. I think for a little more, I could go with coilovers. KYB AGX off of Ebay was about $345 + S&H + Tax which will be about low $400's. Springs, another $250. So... probably about $700 after everything. I guess for another $150-$200, I could upgrade to the Megan coilovers and have it be ride height and dampening adjustable.

As for brakes, I am not quite sure. I want to get used Stoptech's or 4-pots. I've been talking about doing a swap for my "L" for awhile, and I want to do to all the little things before the swap. Things like brakes, catback, and yeah.

This is kind of off-topic, but since I have drums in the rear, I figure that I would spend the money toward a BBK rather than having a shop do a drum to disc conversion.

I'll look it up. Keep in mind that I have an "L."

Added:

Found it online. I am just looking for something about a grand or less. We'll see.

doesn't the "L" use the same suspension as the 2.5RS? There's not much info, but at Stancesus.com, they show an application for GC so you will have no problem. It's gonna be inverted front and rear with upper camber plates. I dont think it gets any better than that honestly... If you want, feel free to PM me here or PM Mach III or email to get pricing and info!

Yeah. As far as I know, the 2.5RS and L series are pretty much the same suspension wise. Like I said in the above post, kind of looking for something less than a grand and that has adjustable dampening.

I took a quick look on froogle and they came up with the price $1300 or something. Import Image is doing the promotion with BC's for $1k and a non-promotional Megan's for $901. I think the only reason why I am thinking about coilovers is because I was thinking about the KYB AGX's and for $200 more, I could upgrade to entry level coilovers. To be honest, I don't mind paying a little more than $1000 as long as I know that the extra money that is spent is worthwhile.

do a lil search on the Stance coilovers. I'm sure you'll see that they're worth your time and money. for your set, you're looking at $1250 shipped. I dont think that's bad at all. DMS is a great set of coilovers that sells the 50mm ones for over $2000 i believe. These are 52mm valves and you get to choose your spring rates too! the dampening from softest to stiffest is a tremendous amount of difference! If you're ever up in the SF area, feel free to give me a buzz. If we can meet up, i can give you a ride in my car to let you feel the difference!

How do you like the Stance coilovers? Do you use track your car? If your car is a daily driver, how is it? More of a track or street coilover?
