Coilover spring diameter and length

Lets talk coilover specs.

Lets assume that the coilovers we are talking about have an adjustable base so that lowering and raising the car can be done without preloading/unloading the springs.

What difference would it make to run longer or shorter springs.
What difference would it make to run bigger diamter springs or smaller diameter ones?

I have already e-mailed CUSCO guys to see what they have to say on this topic. I wanna see what you guys think. And hopefully we can get some good info flowing here...

Freelength
The spring freelength will depend alot on the the shock stroke/travel. Spring must be long enough such that at full compression, there will be no coil bind. Any longer and it's just extra weight.

Diameter
Doesn't make much difference other than clearance issues.

Are we talking primarly about linear or progressive spring rates?
