brake fluid color?

i don't have my car with me, it's in the shop so i can't look. Can someone tell me the color of the OEM brake fluid? is it clear? and does it evaporate?

thanks

It's a clear amber-yellow color, unless you've faded it badly, in which case it will turn murky brown.

clear, yellowish-brown (the color is part of the DOT 3 and DOT 4 specs, so they are all the same - there are other fluids which are different, such as ATE superblue, and while it is essentially a DOT 4, it doesn't meet the spec (because of the color only)) - it will become increasingly dark as it absorbs water out of the air.

the evaporation rate is negligable - however, as your brake pads wear down, the fluid level will drop (since the cylinders are extended further)
