Question Help with SS brake lines / brake fluid change this Saturday or Sunday??

Hey, my Goodrich brake lines are going to be at my house tomorrow and I want to swap those with my stock lines and change the fluid also. I've never done this before and it sounds sort of difficult from reading whats on scoobymods so anybody free to help me out?? On Monday me and my friend whos on leave from the marines are gonna take a lil roadtrip up to Reno and I'd really like to get this done since the dude I bought my RS from said he never changed the brake fluid. I have 32oz of Valvoline synpower fluid and about 1/2 liter of ATE super blue. I'd probably want to use the Valvoline to flush out everything and then put the ATE in for use. Please let me know if you can help, thanks!

-Jeff

BTW: I'll have a full set of 4 Goodrich lines but I also have a front set of Cobb lines (similar to Stoptech) and was wondering if it would be better to use the Cobb ones in the front and Goodrich in the rear, reason being the Cobb's are steelbraided and coated with the clear film to keep out dirt ect.. Would that be a good idea or should I just not bother??

I think daredevil means a "flare nut" wrench or a line wrench. I agree...you'll round dem suckers off good without one (like $5 at Sears):

The job is a fairly easy one, if you've got one of three things to make the bleeding easier:

1. Friend
2. Speed bleeders
3. Vacuum pump

I had 2 & 3 below...and it was an easy job...even for a doofie like me.

you just need a friend to pump the brakes while you bleed them

The part about swapping lines doesn't seem too bad but I've never bled brakes before. I dunno, most installs on my car I'll just jump right in and do it but brakes are really important and it would be cool to have someone with me who's done it before. I could buy lunch for whoever can assist me.

bleeding aint that bad...

1. pump on brake pedal about 3 times. hold pedal at last pump.
2. open bleed screw, let air and/or fluid come out. close screw
3. repeat steps 1 and 2 till sure only fluid comes out.

trick is when on the last brake pedal pump, when you open screw, tell person not to step down further or you may go past limit on the seals.

then test drive vehicle. drive slowly, making sure you can stop with normal pedal feeling. then continue to drive to make sure at faster speeds, everything is hunky-dory...

then drive it like you stole it...

might wanna call VIC HUBBARD and see if they have any speed bleeder screws in stock of the impreza... makes bleeding truly a one person job...
