I know you didn't ask for a brand or anything but I like the Valoline Sypower stuff. Some people like Mutol or ATF Blue but htey are pricy and the Sypower stuff is at every Autozone for $5. It is considered a Dot 4. The difference is boiling temp. 3 less than 4 less than 5 ect. Most dot 5 are silicone and you don't want that your not that hardcore.
A good change of fluid and pads will work wonders for the WRX it did mine.

essentially, the higher the dot rating, the higher the wet and dry boiling points.

what DOT rating fluid comes in the wrx from the factory? 3? Is it bad to mix DOT 3 with DOT 4? Would a big brake kit benefit more from DOT 4 fluid or DOT3?

Ted,
you're going to use DOT4. either ATE Super Blue or Motul RBF600 is what i'd go with. ATE has a lower boiling point, but with the stoptechs you bought, that shouldn't be much of an issue. i've got a spare can of ATE in my garage.

Go to your Ford dealer and get Ford HD brake fluid. Boiling temp is very close to Super Blue. Price is much cheaper. For the street is doesn't matter much and a generic dot 4 from Wal*Mart is fine. For the track, Motul is fairly cheap and available everywhere. I use wilwood exp600 which has a boiling point 32 degrees higher than Motul. I'm running a racecar, however....so $20 a 1/2 liter is not a big % of my budget.
