Best Brake Combo Recommendation
Best Brake Combo Recommendation
I am looking at the following choices:
1) Stop Tech Slotted with Metal Master Pads - $469
2) DBA Gold with Metal Master or Hawk Pads - $550/$630
3) DBA Slotted with Metal Master Pads - $449
4) OE slotted Frt with Brembo Rr and Metal Master Pads - $499
5) Stock rotors pads - $320
What is everyone's recommendation on these choices or add additional choices - key is maintaining stock wheel size (winter wheels)

I'm assuming you have a WRX, you might want to clarify when you post a question.
How about stock pads and rotors front and rear(unless theyre fubar,) upgraded fluid+good bleed, SS lines, rear "H6" rotor/bracket upgrade.
Net without pads $350. I think youll be pleased.
Add a set of pads f&r at your leisure.

I assuming this is a street driven/auto-x car, if youre tracking it youve got a lot more to do. Your brake upgrades need to be relative to your use of the car. There are some guys out there trying to drive around at low street temps on race pads. Not good.

Good point on the car info. I thought my user name gave enough lead. No autox but a some track days here and there. I am with you on the temp thing but I drive the car very hard as a daily driver. I have run metal master, mintex, pagid, all before on similar situation cars. Love the pagids but they are a bit more expensive. I would like to step up from the stock fronts, rear stock does seem OK though. Actually I just bought the DBA slotted rotors and now on the hunt for pads. I may do the steel braid lines a little later. Any pad recommedations. Stock have worked fine for me but I thought I would try something different. The metal master (axxis) are very affordable but I am concerned about cleaning the dust off the wheels every day.

One more point, I ran a few track events already on the stock set up. The stock parts worked OK they are just worn out (22K miles) now. I do tend to trail brake so I was not necessarily focused on excessive fade if it was There. I will see what something different will do.

Slotted rotors are a minor upgrade to the front rotors at best. Some people prefer just plain rotors.
If you are looking to upgrade the front rotor SIZE, all I have to say is save your pad and rotor money andget the SToptech kit. Its a complete track solution, huge increase in heat consumption and significant adjustment to f to r bias.
Its all you need.
