camber plates would be nice, but im not sure I want to mess with it too much being that this will mainly be my daily driver.

Haha... I don't know anything about suspension at all. Haha. Okay... so, that's another thing to take into account for total costs.

Anyways... if I were to get new shocks, do I need to get top mounts too?
If you get new shocks, you don't need to get top mounts. I just happened to snap one of the studs off of my stock ones, so I bought some new group-N mounts since they were cheaper than buying the stock ones, but I haven't felt much of a difference on my car.

If you want to be able to adjust camber, get some top mounts, but pillowballs will clunk, so be prepared for that if you choose to go that way.

If you choose to not go with a coilover setup and instead go with a spring/strut system, you can always upgrade your top hats to pillowball mounts later. You can use your stock tophats until you're ready to buy them.

If I had a new 06 I would just get springs and use the stock struts for a good 30K + miles or until they wear out. Dont you also have endlinks and f/r swaybar and stuff? Those with springs and tires/wheels will make it plenty good for street and not too expensive. When you do start going to the track then you can do the koni insert upgrade or some nice coilovers.

The prodrives are always a safe bet...the Swift springs look nice too but I read on the other site that said Swifts with 06 struts were bouncy...? I have prodrives with kybgr2 on my wagon fwiw.

Yeah. I guess that I'll go with the KYB AGX. Probably be a good way to go especially if I think I am going to upgrade later down the line.

When getting new struts/springs/top hats it costs about the same as entry-level coilovers such as the Megan Racing or Helix DNA. However, the difference is comfort vs. performance. The coilovers should perform slightly better but be much less comfortable. Without paying more for coilovers with better damping performance, they will be harsh for street driving, however, the degree of liveability is subjective to the driver. I'd say the best bang-for-the-buck is RCE or Cusco camber plates + JDM pinks/Swift/RCE springs on USDM STi struts. However, I dished out a little bit more money for my coilovers. I find my STANCEs very comfortable for street and very capable for spirited driving. Inverted monotube FTW!
