2.5 ts or outback sport ?
I have owned toyota trucks for the past 20 years.Never did any serious 4 wheeling, but I do have property in new york state. The roads on this property are pretty rough, with gravel first and dirt and rocks at the end.Want to buy subaru, for the better gas mileage.I cant decide with car to buy,the 2.5 or the sport outback. when I read the specs they say the sport, has negative scub geometry and heavy duty raised ride type .What the F does that mean.I dont have a glue.I know you guys are probably int the real fast stuff, like the wrx.So maybe you guys can help me decide which car to buy for the use i need it for. thanks, confused

I would go w/ the Outback sport because it has more clearance and sounds like that is what you'll need since you are not looking for performance persay. I haven't driven the outback sport but I have driven the Legacy Outback and it handle the rough roads pretty well.
The OBS is a little bit better on rough roads, but it's not a huge difference. Clearance is not a big factor (1/4") but the OBS suspension is phenomenal for rough stuff - I've been doing surprisingly well at rallycross and iceracing, and I'm a very mediocre driver. The 16" vs 15" wheels help to smooth out the rough ride also.
I owned a Toyota 4x4 truck and it was great in low-range for inching up dried creekbeds, crossing flowing ones or really deep snow. Any hi-range driving speeds and the OBS has it beat though. It just flys and floats over potholed cobbly, washboard forestry roads.
Also, decide if you want all the other options - cruise control, foglights, interior map and cargo lights, roof racks, 12V rear outlet etc.
