$1000 for suspension
$1000 for suspension
What suspension upgrades would everyone recommend that would get the best "bang for the buck" from $1000 on a stock '04 WRX? Assuming Tires and wheels not included. I want a better feel for "spirited" driving, better high speed stability, and occasional track use. One big stipulation is I must be able to use the car in light to moderate (ie roads not plowed) snow and retain a tollerable comfort level on unimproved roads. I have set the $1000 as a cap as it is a realistic amount of money which I could spend in the future on my car. Well any input is great, thanks everyone.
Do you still have the factory rims and tires? If not I would say buy them first because a good sticky tire on some 17's will IMO give you more than suspension on factory tires.

1- Tires, tires, tires...
2- Prodrive springs - $300 - small drop - still comfortable for everyday - works with strock struts
3- Koni Struts - $600 - good match to the prodrive springs - adjustability for the track and autox- increased handling
After this you can fine tune the ride with bigger | smaller sway bars. That's what I would do with 1K...

I guess I worded that poorly, right now I don't have aftermarket wheels/tires on my car, however that would be my first mod. I was thinking the $1000 would be on top of wheels and tires. Monkey Boy I like your suggestion however I am leary about the car in snow. Do you think this setup would be too low? What about swaping in STi struts w/ stock springs?
My car has SPT springs which are lower than Prodrives (not much) and I have had no problems with snow here in Missouri. Unless you live in an area that snows a lot or you live where the roads are not plowed I dont see Prodrives causing a problem.
Well I live in TN/KY right now, but I am moving back to Denver in a year to 2 years. No Denver Colorado doesn't get as much snow as say Buffalo, NY but it can get quite a bit. Maybe springs are the way to go...

There is a Rocky mountain regional forum here at I-club and I'm sure someone there has some lowering springs on their rex and they could tell you how they are working out for them. Try posting the question there.
Good luck.
