yay or nay, 03 WRX

Found an '03 WRX blue w/ 34000 miles. Car is in pretty good shape, just normal stuff for a used car. Told me online price was 21.9k, just looked online and saw it for 20,995. Anyway, he got down to $20,500

They're paying off my trade in Land Rover Discovery, which I owe about a grand more than the trade in is.

Test drove nice, only question was 1st gear was just a little hard to get into, this normal.? Just had to jimmy it a little more to get it in gear.

Also since its still under warranty, how much would an extended warranty cost?

thanks guys, really thinkin about it

Thats way overpriced, you could buy a 2004 WRX with the same miles for less. Keep looking.

OK, ya guys I was thinking it was a little much. I think because they were offering about 1500 more for my trade in than most dealers made it seam like a deal.

What do you guys think would be a decent deal? They made it seem like I was crazy to ask them to do 20.5k, but I'll give them another chance I guess.
thanks again

i say about 16k-18k(i could be wrong), but one thing to consider the mileage is pretty damn good, i have a 03 rex(yeah bug eye baby) and it has 43k miles on it(in Hawai'i)....

as for 1st gear it's pretty normal, mine does the same thing along with others who had the same year(don't know about the other yrs/models)...it's like you almost have to be on a complete stop to shift to 1st, but that's ok....

for warrranty, just get an extended one anyway(just to be safe)....

btw....be careful launching that bad boy, as it's known to have a weak tranny....

NEVER DUMP THE CLUTCH, MUST SLIP IT!!!

unless you got stronger gears(you can do a search on this one)...hope this helps...

OK, good info again. Unfortuneatly I completely forgot about one important thing, insurance! I actually assumed it wouldn't be a factor as I've been looking at some used S2000's or M3's and got quotes that were fine. But I called right before I was gonna head over there, and AllState quoted an increase of $45/month.

I know that's not ridiculous sounding, but enough to make me keep looking for a nice used S2k instead of a WRX. Oh well, just have to wait unitll i get a nice job and can afford a STi
