what should i offer for this car?
what should i offer for this car?
Hey everyone,
I'm looking at possibly getting an 04 WRX. At a local dealership they have a San Remo Red 04 for $26,500. It does not have a spoiler but it does have upgraded speakers & sub, titanium shift ****, armrest extension, security system upgrade, boost gauge, and short throw shifter. What is a reasonable OTD price I should pay for this car. I am still not sure yet whether or not to look for an 03 with low mileage, because I actually like the styling of the 02-03 better than 04, or wait for the 05 to come out and then get an 04. Any comments are appreciated.
Thanks

the 04 changes are beyond styling, so you might want to think about getting a newer car.
i would wait until the new ones hit the market, elevating your negotiating power ten-fold

the bottom line question is how badly do u want a wrx. next is how much are you willing to spend? are u a "total cost" buyer, or a "payment" buyer? if u go to kbb.com(i know i always say this) enter your vehicle in question and all the mods. it will then tell u the cost, retail and then the fair market value. from there it gives you an idea on how much u should pay. it also depends on your area. personally i say go with the '04 and offer (at the least 500-1000 over the dealer cost) now if the website lists "rebates" then take into account that offsets the dealer cost also. and try not to pay retail for the dealer installed accessories. kbb.com should list their costs on those as well. . . unless its from a local vendor.
hope that helps

Hey everyone,
Thanks alot for the input! I will probably just hold off atleast until the 05's come out and then see how cheap I can get an 04 for. An 03 with low mileage is still an option though.....I just really like the bug eye style. I'll just keep looking around.
Thanks everyone

wait until 2 weeks- kbb book values drop and you can get a 03/01 for couple hundred dollars cheaper. and to me the bugeye will forever be a "niche" in the market.
