Trade-in 02 wrx
I got a call from my suby dealer today, he said that he could put me in a 04 wrx for the same payment. I went to have him show me the numbers and this is what he said-
24,608-(for new car)
16,200-(02 trade-in, still owe 14,200)
payment-389.34 at 1.9% for 63 mons
My question is it worth doing for the sunroof and winter pack.?
I have already payed on the 02 for 18mons..
Any comments would help. Also can't decide if I want to keep black (I know it is java on the new ones) or blue.
Thanks diggs

seems fair
most dealers wanna take a trade in less than wholesale book. i think its fair that they are selling you the 04 for less than msrp, but try to see if they can give you more for your car. the high book is around 19k which is what they will most likely sell it for.
if the guy is cool maybe you won't need to haggle anymore, but maybe ask if he can get you some goodies for your car. and one last thing--- 63 months? and dude, u live in NY- - - get the heated seats
in hawaii we don't need that. although i swear that you can use it for heated massage
the java black is nice cuz of the gold flakes(kinda helps disguise the scratches)

If your trade-in is worth more than 16k, I'd actually try and negotiate a lower sale price of the new car (as opposed to a higher trade-in value). By doing the former you lower the sales tax you pay (assuming your state has sales tax). Granted, it may work out that your down payment will be less but 1.9% APR is very good, especially for a 5 year loan.
Also, did you calculate that payment based on:
Sale price of car - $16,200 + $14,200 = loan amount $22,608 @ 1.9% for 63 months
Or did you incorporate tax/other fees into it? If you didn't include tax/other fees/etc, your payment should be $377.34 / mo. With tax + fees it would be closer to what you suggested, though

Thanks everyone for the replies. I have decided to keep my car. I just don't think that a new car is what I need right now, just bought a house in august. I would rather pay off the car instead of having a payment another year longer. I also feel that I should have waited to by a rex and waited for the sti but the past has past the future is now.
Thanks agian!!
