Thinking about a 2.5RS

Hey everyone,
Well, here's the deal. I recently test drove a 2000 2.5RS at a dealer, but was unable to purchase the car at the time because I was in the process of moving and transfering jobs.
I have been wanting one of these cars for years, and am at the point now where I can seriously purchase one.
I am just basically wondering how current owners like the car and if there are any suggestions for me on what year is better (if any) and what I should look for/expect in owning one. Right now I'm struggling to find one that is close enough to me and at the right price, so it's probably going to be a few months before I actually purchase one.
It's just about time I get out of my 95 Neon Sport that was given to me at the young age of 15 when I got my permit. It's been 5 years in the thing now, and I can't handle it anymore.
Any suggestions/opinions would be great!

Right now I have a 1999 RS. Man I don't know how I could get along without this car
I've done a fair share of modding to it and just keeps getting more and more fun. I mean I've drove some modded wrx's and even though my car is slower I still like it just as much. Getting a 00-01 will be a good idea because its easier to run an intake and comes with the rear LSD.

It depends on what you're looking for. They are technically just different trim levels. The biggest advantage of the RS is price, the biggest advantages of a wrx are everything else.

yeah, i realize that the WRX obviously has more power than the 2.5, but i love the look and feel of the 2.5 and coming from a neon driver, the 2.5 has plenty of power for me. :-P on top of it, the car will obviously get some nice little mods to boost the power up a bit.

have you driven a WRX? it's a much different beast. exterior wise there's not a while lot of difference aside from the wheels and the nostril for the IC. Interior wise there's a few differences, chrome rings aroind the gauges, double height stereo, auto climate control, more supportive seats(although there are no adjustable headrests in the wrx). Mostly it's handling and performance, but I drove both and going from an accord V6 there was no way I could go with an RS, but that's me.
I think kimtastic is talking about the GM/GC body.

hey, I currently got a new 2.5rs + sport package and I am really satisfied with it. "parents got it for me." so no complaints! better than any civic!!.. but though im young, 17... i tested out the WRX and the power is incredible! ( I had an 01 accord ex before) I was really looking forward for an AWD car and I've always been fond of Subarus... but the 2.5rs is enough for me at the moment. It launches great since it has AWD and torque isn't bad. The buckets hug me and the momo is something that I would've modded first if my car didnt have it. Speakers sound very decent for stock car. 6cd in-dash (very vital since changing cds while driving is a hassel), silver trim guages, sti fog light covers. Very sporty feel.. it lacks LSD and the power difference, but for everything else its just like the rex"almost" (don't want to get flamed.. haha). but if you're interested in the 2.5, throw on the sport package.. you'll never regret buying the rs!

I'm going to purchase my RS in november, i thought about getting a wrx instead but being 18 in november my insurance will be lower than a wrx. So, you got bit by the little GC8 bug too heh: )

yeah, i'm not really looking forward to the whole insurance thing, since it is bound to go up once i get a 2.5. i pay way too much as it is, but i have full coverage, so i guess that's what i get. i have to go to court on friday to contest a ticket, and i'm hoping the cop won't show up so they'll throw it out, cuz i don't want to have to pay anymore.
